Our First Activist Social!

Come to the very first Activist Social of 2018 and learn how you can stay involved at the local, state, and national levels. We will plan our activism for the crucial fall midterms, discuss some ways to get involved on longer-term civic projects in Cambridge, and grow stronger as a community. There will be snacks and board games. Do you think you can beat Quinton in a game of chess?

WHERE: WeWork Cambridge, 625 Mass Ave in Central Square
WHEN: Tuesday, February 20 at 6 PM
RSVP: Facebook event or reply to this email directly

Other ways to get involved:
  • Our first office hours is Friday the 16th (tomorrow) from 8-10 AM. Quinton will give a brief update on his first month in office, followed by an opportunity to discuss any issues that are of particular concern to you. There will be bagels! Going forward, we will be sure to hold office hours at all different times of the week and weekend in order to accommodate busy schedules.
  • Attend Bridge Repertory Theater's "A Night With Shakespeare's Iconic Couples" at the beautiful Multicultural Arts Center (41 Second Street, East Cambridge). This promises to be a spectacular performance, and there are showings Friday evening as well as Saturday afternoon. It is very important to support the arts in our community! More information on the BridgeRep website
  • Attend a screening of the documentary Chasing Coral, followed by a Q&A session with the executive producers Linda and David Cornfield on Saturday, February 24 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at MIT's Kirsch Auditorium inside the Stata Building. This documentary won the audience award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and looks at why coral reefs are vanishing at an unprecedented rate.
  • Call your legislators at the statehouse! In particular, I am hoping that this week you will call about the Safe Communities Act, which would shield immigrant communities across the state from undue harassment and persecution by ICE and other federal agencies through separating MA police work focused on public safety from nationwide immigration enforcement. If your legislators already support the bill, please call to thank them! Learn more and read some talking points here.
